It seems as though wine has become a part of my blog writing ritual. Today’s wine is Gold & Grape Sweet Red brought to you by Everyday Collection. It is a pretty good wine for the price. Tastes just like grape juice and can be found at your local Lidl for a whopping $3. Now to the good stuff. Recently I have been getting an influx of brides wanting to book which is great. The problem is that when I send over the contract and invoice for the deposit, it takes them so long to respond back. Now, I understand that everyone is busy and has lives and so I don’t expect them to respond immediately but after days have passed, time becomes of the essence. Sometimes I feel like I am bugging my brides when I send a reminder email, but here is the truth of why I stress the importance of submitting your contract and deposit in a timely manner.
Imagine you have had a trial with this amazing hair and makeup artist (me) lol. Everything went beyond your expectations. Your hair is better than the pictures you showed and your makeup is perfection! I am your hair and makeup soul mate. You get home and I follow up with you to see if you were satisfied with how your hair and makeup turned out. I ask you questions about how the makeup and everything held up and if there were any concerns you had. You tell me you loved everything and wanted to proceed with booking me for one of the most important events of your life. I send you the contract and invoice and let you know that the sooner I receive those two items, the sooner your date will be reserved. You tell me great, you are going to look it over and get it back to me. I expect that since you were so excited, that you would have that contract and deposit sent back ASAP for fear that someone else may get your date. To my contrary, you take a week to respond and in the meantime another bride books your date instead. Once you finally respond back, I have to deliver the bad news that your date is no longer available. You get so upset and angry with me for not holding your date (without a deposit) and I am made to look like the bad guy.
I honestly hate being the bad guy. I try my best to make my brides happy and any of my previous brides will attest to this (just read my reviews). This is something that brides need to understand. When you find a hair and makeup artist, photographer, florist or any other wedding professional that you like, go ahead and secure your date immediately. You don’t want to end up with second best because you waited too long for THE best. Your wedding day is one of the most important and most memorable days of your life. What do you want to remember about it? Would you rather remember that you had a decent service but you knew it could have been better, or would you rather remember that you had the absolute BEST service? The choice is yours.
